Dr Leslie Baker-Jones is a native of Velindre near Newcastle Emlyn. He was educated at St Davids College, Lampeter, Jesus College Oxford and Inner Temple. Elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in 1977, he continued his historical researches at Swansea University and was awarded the degree of Ph.D and the Llywellyn ap Gruffydd prize.
A reader and organist in the Emlyn Deanery for fifty years, he has also served on the Advisory, Churches and the Cathedral Restoration Committees. His great interest is in liturgical music of the church, inspired at Oxford by the Panga lingua gloriosi and other plain chant (Pusey House) the grand choruses of Stanford, (Christ Church Cathedral) and the lectures of Professor Egon J. Wellez, (trinity College)
